It was Bank Holiday today, but the children were at school so David and I took the opportunity to go for a walk.

I LOVED IT! This is my kind of hill. We walked up Carn Ban Mor, 1052m, and onto Sgor Gaoith, 1118m, my first munro.
And don’t I look happy?!
The weather was pretty good too.

Gayle, it was amazing, couldn't have been better! A slight breeze, but not at all cold and clear, blue skies for miles around. It was truely outstanding.

It's amazing! I couldn't get over how far you can see, we spent a while guessing which hills were which in the distance.
It's a real good hill, that one. No narrow paths winding up the side of a precipice, just the 2000ft drop by the cairn, but I crawled up to that, ahem. Navigation might be a bit tricky in poor visibility, it's so broad and featureless on top, but I only do these things on a good day!

It really is an amazing hill. It was my first Munro too and for sure it gives you the yearning to head back for more and more. Great photos!
Whatever you do, don't start ticking those beasties. There are some right scary ones on Skye, so don't go there. I know about you and lists, etc...
TWA, snap! It's a good un and it's nice to know there is the odd big hill out there that's not so scary.
Alan. Trust you to remember the list thing. This is one list, however, I feel perfectly capable of resisting.

I suspect your correspondents have all spent so much time on Skye that they regard it as 'a secret place' only to be visited by them.

Hi Martin, and thank you! Hope you had a nice break in the sun.
I have been to Skye, but not for very long due to a weather related tent incident. We'll try again sometime and will certainly be looking at the hills, but it's not the height in itself that's the problem. It's ravines and precipitous edges that I can't cope with. If it's a good path up a broad hill, I'm fine, this one was perfect!
Hmmm, maybe you should keep to The Storr, and maybe Bruach na Frithe, and lots of lovely lower places.
The only time the weather ever got the better of the Phreerunner was at Glenbrittle (I still think it would have survived if someone had been inside it) - out of 40-50 tents only a few Quasars and my NF VE25 stayed up, albeit even some of those were damaged.
Thanks for the tip Martin, I'll have a look at those when we plan our next trip out there!
Must confess, the tent accident was a bit predictable. Who in their right mind would take a family tent to a windy island? We were on the east coast, but vulnerable nevertheless. It was atleast our small family tent, The Palace wouldn't stand a chance!
In fact, I'll have a look now, you've got me curious...
